About Us
Auckland Schools Legal Mooting (ASLM) was founded in 2021 with the aim of introducing high school students in Auckland to mooting in an accurate and exciting way. Special tribute is paid to our 2021 team, whose particular dedication was critical in ensuring the success and growth of our organisation. Without the support and commitment of each of the following team members, ASLM would not be what it is today.

"Kia ora koutou! My name is Flora Xie, and I am the Managing Director for ASLM in 2025.
I did my LLB(Hons) and BA majoring in Psychology and Criminology at the University of Auckland, and I currently work in litigation.
I am particularly passionate about this little organisation because this is something that I wished that I could have done as a high school student before entering university. So, I am very proud to be a part of this wonderful team, and I am so glad that I am able to help provide this opportunity for younger students. I hope you all enjoy the mock trials as much as we enjoy putting it together for you, and I hope that this year we are able to achieve more and create a greater mooting experience for you all."

"Howdy, I’m Richard and this year I am serving as the Competitions Manager for ASLM.
I have been interested in the law from a young age, and currently study at the University of Auckland. I am passionate about courtroom litigation and mooting, and it is my pleasure to contribute to bringing a taste of that to the junior audience. I believe strongly in boosting public engagement with the legal system, and ASLM provides a marvellous avenue of exposure for students to become acquainted with such. I am routinely amazed by the skills displayed by our competitors and inevitably dismayed to learn many intend to pursue other, more constructive professions, such as doctor, scientist, or professional foosball player. Nonetheless, it is my hope that all participants get some benefit and enjoyment from our competition. With luck, some may even learn a thing or two. Ka nui tena mo tenei wa, noho ora mai."

"Hi, I’m Erin! I am the Secretary for ASLM.
I proudly come from an ethnically-mixed background of Korean and NZ European. I am currently studying a conjoint of Law and Global Studies (majoring in Global Politics and Human Rights) at the University of Auckland.
In high school, I also participated in a mooting competition—similar to the ones we have at ASLM—in Year 13. It was my first ever moot and I was absolutely petrified. But it is also one of my highlights and most memorable moments from high school; it is truly an experience like no other! So, I hope the moots we bring will be a memorable experience to many high school students too! I am proud to be part of ASLM, and honoured to be part of the team in 2025 as well. I am excited to see what the 2025 competitions will look like and hope to see many of you there!"

"Hi everyone!, I’m Esha, your Marketing Coordinator for 2024.
I am currently studying a Bachelor of Law and Arts majoring in Politics and International Relations. I am quite a geek when it comes to keeping up with True Crime podcasts and Global Politics, which is part of the reason for choosing to pursue my studies in this field. When I'm not too immersed in my podcasts, I also do volunteering as a way to meet new people and help out in the community and that can also be said for why I chose to be a part of ASLM as an exec member.
Joining ASLM gives the opportunity for individuals to experience the legal setting, whilst also building confidence skills. I am grateful to be a part of this team and looking forward to seeing you all in our competitions this year!"

"Hi there! My name is Tim Prosee and I am the Treasurer for 2025.
I am in my sixth and final year at the University of Auckland. I am studying for a Bachelor of Law, specialising in commercial law, and a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in finance and information systems. As a former scout, I enjoy anything and everything outdoors, but am also a casual gamer.
While I intend on pursuing a career in the finance/technology field, I have found studying the law immensely satisfying; it has a way of providing an alternative lens through which you see the world and approach problems.
ASLM starts exposing students to this legal thinking, which I find invaluable, with the added benefit of giving students a 'taster' of what to expect from a legal career. As a student who had no experience of how the law worked prior to university, I would have cherished such an opportunity."
